Look right here for our "overheards" ...things we (the staffers) have "over-heard" come out of your kiddo's mouth! 2012 DAY FOUR: "Hope...Got Hope?" Grasp It!: Leader: "What would you ask God if you saw him?" Camper: "I wonder what Mars would look like from the inside..."
"When we go to Heaven we'll see our Grandpa, Jesus's Dad!"
"You know what, I think Jesus is actually prettier than Barbie."
"Why didn't Jesus have a wife if He has so many children?"
"Can we take our Mommy and Daddy to heaven with us?"
"All the animals that are bad I don't love them but I love all the cute animals in the forest...I know it's a sin though."
"I think about heaven every day. I'm ready to go there now."
Create It!: "I'm going to treat the crayon like I would want to be treated so it won't break."
Moving from one class to another: "You just high-fived Jesus!" (about Joey, our "Jesus" from Monday's Cross Walk.)
Choral: Leader: "What do we owe God? What does he want from us?" Camper: "Money!"
Talking about Spirit Day: "I'm never gonna wash my face...unless my mom says to."
DAY THREE: "Danger...Are you ready?" Prayer time: Camper: "I pray that You would give us more food so we can live for ever and ever and ever."
Camper: "Is she praying?" (6 yr old girl)
Large Group Choral: Camper: "Is this going to be over soon? Leader: "Why?" Camper: "Because I have an important playdate to get to." (7 yr old boy) DAY TWO: "Curious?" Create It!: Direction given: Draw anything in nature. Leader: "What was your favorite part about today?" Camper: "Art! I drew a dragon." (6 yr old boy)
Choral: Camper: "I'm growing a mustache." Leader: "Really?" Camper: "Yep. With the scratchy part on the sides, too." (7 yr old boy)
Near the end of the day: Camper: "Is there a nap-time breakout?"
DAY ONE: "Eternity: Where will you spend eternity?" Grasp It!: "There were words about Jesus and then all of the sudden the words made His face!" (11 year old girl)
"I want to be kind, just like Jesus!" (8 yr old boy)
"It was really weird listening to them hit Jesus. I didn't like it." (12 yr old boy)
Choral: A director was instructing a wayward camper when the camper interrupted the director saying, "You smell pretty."
Voice It!: When playing a get to know you game, these were some of the things the campers wanted us to know about them: I love my family I like to learn about Jesus I like mosquitoes I like my grandma's spaghetti I like sharks I love my church I like my brothers and sisters I like skittles!
Experience It! (Games): Leader: "One way Satan works is he is always trying to trick us." Camper: "My uncle is Satan...because he is always trying to trick me."
2011 Day Four: "Jehova-Tsidkenu - The LORD our Righteousness"
Grasp It! - Leader: "What has been your favorite thing you have done at e-Camp?" Camper: (Pausing...) Everything!!
"God even loves Hisself!"
Leader: "There was only one person who wasn't a sinner. Who was it?" Camper: "Adam-and-Eve!"
Morning Devotions: "Guess what, Whitney! The year I was 3, I didn't sin. I was good all year, but then I turned 4 and I got bad again."
Day Three: "Immanuel - God with us"
Grasp It! - "Maybe is always yes when grown-ups say it."
Leader: (about Grace) "There is a kind of free ride that God gives us." Camper: "Yeah, your feet."
Create It! - "I'm making Jesus singing."
G-camp - (our camp for small children of full-time volunteers) Gege: "Who is supposed to be talking and telling the story?" (a reminder that this is not time for campers to talk) 2 yr old Camper: (shooting arm in air) "Jesus!!"
Day Two: "Jehova Raah - The LORD my Shepherd"
Create It! - "When God speaks, how do I know it is Him? What does His voice sound like? Will He say my name out loud?"
"I have an aunt named Gigi. And she is very old. I mean VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY old."
"My name is Ty and my favorite animal is a dragon, a giraffe, a bayer (bear pronounced with two syllables), a mouse and chipmunks."
Voice It! - "This is my first year. Does this go on all summer? I'm asking my mom to sign me up again next year."
Check-out time - (From a Hit It! camper) - The two (rain drips) by the darn boor (barn door!) sound like this: "CHSUSCH! CHSUSCH!"
Day One: "Adonai - Lord, Master"
Voice It! - Leader: "Would you like to sing a solo on Friday?" Camper: "Yes!" Leader: "Would you like to sing with others in a microphone?" Camper: "Well, I WANT to sing by myself...If I HAVE to sing with others I will, but I prefer to sing by myself."
Grasp It! - Camper: "I have never done that. I don't sin."
Create It! - Camper: "I am going to make a garden with flowers growing to show how we grow as Christians."
